Top 10 Tuesday 5th July

on July 5, 2022

Hello and welcome back to another instalment of Top 10 Tuesday! Hosted by Jana @ That Artsy Reader Girl, it features a different bookish-related theme each week. This week we are talking:

Top 10 Books Releasing In The 2nd Half Of 2022

Love On The Brain by Ali Hazelwood

I really loved The Love Hypothesis so I am super excited for this one.

Tomorrow, And Tomorrow, And Tomorrow by Gabrielle Zevin

This sounds very fun – it’s about 2 children who meet in a hospital gaming room in the late 1980s and forge a friendship while one is there recovering from a car accident and the other is visiting their sister. They then see each other 8 years later on a train and reconnect.

The Marriage Portrait by Maggie O’Farrell

Historical fiction set in 1561 where a young teenage bride Lucrezia, Duchess of Ferrara realises her husband has brought her to their country home in order to kill her.

The Seven Skins Of Esther Wilding by Holly Ringland

Holly is an Australian author who also wrote The Lost Flowers Of Alice Hart which I absolutely adored – I think it was my favourite book the year it was released. It’s also being made into a series I think by….. I want to say Amazon Prime. I’m super excited for that, Holly Ringland showcases Australian natives beautifully and a lot of the book takes place in various types of Australian nature. I’m very keen to see what her second book will be like.

Ithaca by Claire North

This has a cover quote by Jennifer Saint and I’m all about the mythology books these days. This is the story of Penelope, who was of course, the wife of Odysseus, who waited for his return for like, 20 years, staving off all her other suitors who came to the Kingdom of Ithaca to win her hand. Yes please!

Bet On It by Jodie Slaughter

A bingo-based sex pact? Why the heck not. This sounds super fun and I think it’s out next week.

The Killing Code by Ellie Marney

I would read Ellie Marney’s grocery list and probably give it 5 stars.

Our Missing Hearts by Celeste Ng

New Celeste Ng! 100% very excited for this.

Booked On A Feeling by Jayci Lee

I’m obsessed with books that contain anything about writing, publishing, reading, bookstores etc, especially if the book is a romance, so this one sounds like it is definitely my sort of thing! It involves an overachieving lawyer named Lizzie suffering a panic attack and heading back to the small town she spent summers in where the guy that had a crush on her all that time, still lives. Whilst she’s there, Lizzie decides to spruce up the local bookstore – I would like this right now please!

Best Of Friends by Kamila Shamsie

I liked Home Fire and this sounds interesting, spanning the friendship of two women over decades who are very different but now are both powerful in their own way. Something happens to threaten that which they must deal with – and decide if their friendship can survive it.

I know I’ll have forgotten books that I’m excited about, so I’m looking forward to seeing what everyone else has on their lists this week! Do you have any of mine on yours? Let me know!

  1. Interesting list – partly because it’s so similar to mine (!) and partly because there’s a couple new ones that sound excellent. I’m currently reading Tomorrow and almost done – it’s great. I also have Best of Friends and Our Missing Hearts on my list. I’m off to research Ithaca & The Seven Skins. I have a feeling my TBR is going to explode again this week. 🙂

I have Love on the Brain on my list! I also like the look of Booked on a Feeling. I also like books about books etc. I haven’t read any mythology books – maybe I need to explore those?

    Have a great week!

  3. I had no idea that a new Celeste Ng is being release later this year! Just made my day! Also, Ithaca sounds awesome, it was on the table when creating my list!

Happy to have found your blog via Top Ten Tuesdays!

    • Haha happy to be your Celeste Ng informer! I only just found out about it too actually, it was on iBooks to preorder when I was scrolling through but I haven’t read much/anything about it.

Somewhat surprisingly we don’t have any in common!!

Love on the Brain is on my list too this week. I have a review copy of Ithaca, Penelope is one of my favourites from the Greek myths, so I’m looking forward to it (even if I feel a bit mythed out).

    • There are a lot of myth books at the moment, aren’t there? I am still enjoying them but I do feel it’s something that might easily get exhausting. I have read The Penelopiad by Margaret Atwood but it was quite short so I’m keen for another Penelope retelling.
