Top 10 Tuesday 3rd August

Hey guys and welcome back to another edition of Top 10 Tuesday! Hosted by Jana @ That Artsy Reader Girl, it features a different bookish-related theme and this week we are talking……

Books I Bought Or Wanted To Read Purely For The Cover

Ariadne by Jennifer Saint.

I love this cover. I bought it specifically because I saw a display from my local bookstore posted on their instagram and to be honest, I didn’t really care what it was about, I bought it purely because of how gorgeous that cover is. But the blurb actually sounds amazing as well and I cannot wait to read this.

Rebel Of The Sands by Alwyn Hamilton

I bought this also purely because of the cover. I just saw it facing outward on a shelf at the bookstore when I was looking for something to buy and thought yes, that looks amazing. This whole series looks so good together (the covers are similar, just different colours, I think the second one is purple and gold and the final one is red and gold or the other way around, can’t remember now). I also really enjoyed the trilogy!

All Our Shimmering Skies by Trent Dalton

I love the cover of this one – all those Australian native wildflowers. This is the author’s second novel – his first novel won a slew of literary awards here in Australia but I’ve not read it yet I actually still haven’t read this yet despite buying it a little while ago. I think I’m going to have to be in the mood for it.

Serpent & Dove by Shelby Mahurin

I borrowed this from my library but it was pretty much purely on the strength of the cover (and also the forced marriage of opposites) but the cover caught my eye first. I think it’s awesome.

The Gilded Wolves by Roshani Chokshi

Another one I bought purely because of the cover, which I think is awesome. I’ve read this and I liked it but I haven’t gone on with the series yet and I’m 100% going to have to read this again before reading anything else. I think from what I remember, it kind of gave me Six Of Crows vibes in that there’s a bunch of eclectic characters attempting some sort of plan/heist type thing.

Halo by Alexandra Adornetto

I bought this over a decade ago. I’ve never read it. The cover is gorgeous and I think I got it on sale at like a warehouse seconds or something type of place. But I’ve heard that the story is….not great. I’ve culled my shelves several times and yet this one is still here. So I guess I sort of plan to read it someday!

The Kingdom Of Copper by S.A. Chakraborty

I remember I saw a bunch of these ready to be shelved at a bookstore once – I knew nothing about the series, I’d never heard of it. I used the barcode to add it into GR and realised that it was #2 in a series so I didn’t buy a copy that day. But I basically only ended up reading this series because I saw this book and loved the cover so much!

The Sin Eater by Megan Campisi

I borrowed this from the library but I read it specifically because of the cover. I think it’s amazing.

We Hunt The Flame by Hafsah Faizal

It’s been almost 2 years since I bought and read this and there’s another book that has been released now but I don’t remember much of what happened in this one, so I’m going to have to re-read it, just like with The Gilded Wolves.

The Familiars by Stacey Halls

Bought this purely for the cover – this is the cover I have but there’s another one that I love just as much. I haven’t read it yet but I really want to and her other books as well.

Just 10 of the books I bought or read purely for their covers! Anything here you’ve read or that catches your eye? Let me know!

I do like that first one! And some of those covers are gorgeous.

Serpent and Dove I 100% cover bought and still haven’t picked it up! Now that there’s more to the series, I definitely need to read it! But that Rebel of the Sands cover is STUNNING. Great list!

  3. Yay for Ariadne – that was on my list as well! And I’d be interested in your response to The Familiars. Don’t you find the Dalton cover a little… too much?! This is my TTT this week, half covers and half titles.

    • I find the Dalton cover really interesting because the more I look at it, the more I see – the more different flowers I notice and can identify. It is very busy but perhaps because they’re all things I’m familiar with, I find it quite enjoyable to study!

  4. I’m pretty sure Rebel of the Sands was a cover buy for me too – pity I never carried on with that series as I remember liking that book, I just am terrible at reading series!
    My TTT.

    • Ooh you should go back to it! I loved that series. But it was definitely just because of that amazing cover that I bought it. I saw one of the other covers that the book had overseas and it would not have tempted me at all.

Nice list! They are all gorgeous covers. I think I have Rebel of the Sands on my TBR and it was definitely the cover that drew me in.

  6. I’d buy all of these just for the covers. They are beautiful enough to post on the walls.
