All The Books I Can Read

1 girl….2 many books!

Top 10 Tuesday 9th February

on February 9, 2021

Hello and welcome back to another Top 10 Tuesday! Hosted by Jana @ That Artsy Reader Girl, Top 10 Tuesday features a different bookish theme each week. This week, we are gearing up for Valentine’s Day and in honour of that….the topic this week is Valentine’s Day/love freebie. So I’m going to do:

Top 10 Romance Books I Want To Read In 2021

(some of these might not be strictly romance, but have strong romantic elements)

At the end of last year, I found a post somewhere (Goodreads maybe?) with books coming out in 2021 and I went and added a bunch of them to a wishlist-2021 category on my Goodreads and a large portion of them are romance novels or books with strong romantic elements. So I have quite a few to choose from, for this post!

1. Shipped by Angie Hockman.

This one gets added for a couple reasons: firstly it’s an enemies-to-lovers romance where the characters have had epic email battles – that’s definitely my sort of thing. And at least part of it takes place on the Galapagos Islands, which I’ve never read before in fiction.

2. Float Plan by Trish Doller.

I really like the sound of this – a woman intends to sail solo after she loses her fiancé, creating the trip they were supposed to take together. However after a practice night sail, she soon realises she can’t do it alone and hires a man to help her. A bit of forced proximity (one of my favourite tropes!). Can’t go wrong.

3. Act Your Age, Eve Brown by Talia Hibbert.

I feel as though one book or another by Talia Hibbert makes it onto pretty much any Top 10 Tuesday list I create these days. After loving Chloe and Dani’s books, I am super keen to read Eve’s. Bring it on.

4. A Pho Love Story by Loan Le.

This sounds so cute – like a Romeo & Juliet type of tale, featuring two teens whose parents run rival Pho restaurants. This sounds like it could have so much goodness inside and I’m here for what are hopefully lots of descriptions of food.

5. Any Way The Wind Blows by Rainbow Rowell.

I’m kind of scared for this. I just want Simon & Baz to be okay.

6. People We Meet On Vacation by Emily Henry.

This is 100% a priority after how much I loved Beach Read.

7. The Layover by Lacie Waldon.

Another one that checks boxes for enemies-to-lovers and also exotic location. A flight attendant and the cocky pilot that is apparently responsible for a humiliating night she experienced, are stuck on a week’s layover in Belize. Yes please!

8. A Lady’s Formula For Love by Elizabeth Everett.

This sounds so fun – a clandestine society for brilliant female minds in Victorian times….secret work for the Crown….an eccentric lady and a reserved protection officer. Inject it into my veins!

9. Battle Royal by Lucy Parker.

I adore Lucy Parker’s London Celebrities series and this is the first book in a new series featuring a show that is clearly inspired by the Great British Bake Off (which I love, although less and less each year as they keep replacing judges and hosts). Anyway, four years ago the main character was voted off the baking show by a grumpy judge and now she’s back on the show, this time as a fellow judge. The male love interest is supposedly famously dour and the heroine has pink hair so I’m assuming she’s supposed to be Fun and Quirky and the male’s antithesis so….YES! Give me ALL OF THIS. The only issue is it’s not out until August and that is still so far away.

10. The Alice Equation by Davina Stone.

I love a fauxmance and this sounds fun but with a serious side (the main character’s anxiety). Plus she works in a bookshop.

Isn’t It Bromantic by Lyssa Kay Adams.

This one is a bonus because I really love the sound of it (marriage of convenience, hockey player, secret bromance club) but it’s the fourth in a series and I haven’t read the other three and I really feel I probably should first. So this one is on my list but only after I’ve caught up!

And they’re 10 11 of the romantic books I’m most looking forward to reading in 2021. Although I’m not a huge Valentine’s Day person, I do love a good romance. If you’re keen to read some of these too, let me know!

I think The Alice Equation sounds like a book I’ll want to read. I don’t really care for just funny, so this having a serious side to it makes it sound interesting.
